A discussion with Gary Chason. Chason is a film and theatrical producer and director, a screenwriter and playwright, an actor and acting coach. He was also a casting director for major filmmakers, including Robert Altman and Peter Bogdanovich, working on such films as The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, The Getaway, Brewster McCloud, and Pretty Baby. His work in legitimate theater includes a highly acclaimed production of Michael McClure's The Beard in Houston in 1975. Based in Austin, Gary now works in indie film and his writing and directing have won major awards at domestic and international film festivals. Gary Chason was also a founder of the Sexual Freedom League at UT; wrote for the underground paper, The Rag; and was active in SDS -- all in Sixties Austin. Host and producer: Thorne Dreyer.
